Reindeer Map (Porokartta)

Purpose and Legal Basis

Reindeer Map (Porokartta) processes personal data to provide the map service, device tracking, customer communication, push notifications, service security, fraud prevention, and service improvement. The legal bases include contract performance, legitimate interests, legal obligations, and consent where required.

Legitimate Interests

Our legitimate interests are service security, abuse prevention, operational diagnostics, customer support, service reliability, and service improvement.

Data We Access, Collect, Use, and Share

• User data: email address or customer code used for authentication and support.
• Device and location data: tracker identifiers such as Device EUI, tracker telemetry, sensor values, tracker location history, alarm state, and precise device/app GPS location when needed for map, tracking, group visibility, safety, or service operation features.
• Technical data: IP address, login data, app identifiers, Firebase Cloud Messaging tokens, crash reports, and usage diagnostics.
• Map data: map tile requests to map service providers. Live or tracker location records are not sent to the National Land Survey of Finland for map display.

Sources of Data

Data is provided by users, customer administrators, connected trackers, the mobile app, service logs, and the service providers needed to operate the service.

Service Providers and Sharing

We do not sell personal or sensitive user data. We share data only as needed to provide the service, operate infrastructure, send notifications, maintain security, or comply with law.

• Google Firebase: push notifications, crash reporting, and analytics.
• Cloudflare and Fly.io: hosting, routing, security, and infrastructure operations.
• National Land Survey of Finland and other map providers: background map services.
• Authorities or legal recipients when required by applicable law.

Secure Data Handling

• Data is transmitted using HTTPS/TLS where it leaves the device.
• Production systems use access controls and operational logging to protect service data.
• Personal and sensitive user data, including location data, is not sold and is not used for advertising or profiling.
• Access to production data is limited to service operation, support, security, and legal needs.

Retention and Deletion

• Tracker messages and tracker location history are retained for 30 days unless a shorter operational retention applies.
• Account contact data, app identifiers, FCM tokens, and short-lived app location records are deleted when they are no longer needed or when a verified deletion request applies.
• Aggregated analytics may be retained indefinitely when it no longer identifies a user.
• Security, legal, accounting, and abuse-prevention records may be retained when required.

Account and Data Deletion Requests

You can request deletion of Reindeer Map (Porokartta) data using the data deletion form or by emailing [email protected]. We may ask for additional information to verify the request before deleting data.

Your Rights

You may request access, correction, deletion, or restriction of your personal data by contacting [email protected]. Users in the EU may also object to processing, request data portability, withdraw consent where processing is based on consent, and contact their local data protection authority.

International Transfers

Some service providers may process data outside the EU/EEA. Where this happens, we use appropriate safeguards required by GDPR, such as European Commission standard contractual clauses or equivalent safeguards where required.

Required Data and Automated Decisions

Providing account and device data is necessary to use the service. If required data is not provided, the service may not work. We do not make automated decisions or profiling with legal or similarly significant effects.

Cookies and Analytics

The web service may use Firebase Analytics or Google Analytics for anonymous usage statistics. The mobile app does not use location data for advertising or profiling.

Age

Reindeer Map (Porokartta) is not intended for users under 13 years old.
